Matchplay Championship
Following on the Union's Spring Meeting at Haggs Castle on Sunday 13th April, last year's champion, John Laurie of Cowglen along with the 15 best qualifiers from the strokeplay event, contested the matchplay section. Despite recovering from a tonsil operation John acquitted himself well and again reached the final where he was beaten by a determined Gordon Sangster of Cathkin Braes. Both Gordon and John played well in a keenly contested final before Gordon ran out the winner by 6&4.
